Makenna practices a variety of artistic mediums ranging from fiber arts, ceramics, painting, and experimenting with various craft materials. She is often inspired by nature and mediums traditionally intended to be utilitarian and crafted by women. Many of her materials are found in family members scrap, garbage, and donate piles, giving the old but meaningful items a new purpose.
She graduated from Normandale Community College with an A.A. Degree with an Emphasis in Art followed by a B.A. in Art Studio degree from Concordia University St. Paul. She has been working for community education youth programs since 2017 and has a passion for sparking creativity in the learners in those programs.
Makenna aspires to teach all ages in a community setting how to be creative and make art no matter what resources are available. She believes in finding joy and meaning in objects you see and use everyday.
